Betty Colegrove is: first, a beloved little daughter of God; second, she is a grateful wife and blessed mother of two incredible young adult children. She has practiced as a registered physical therapist for the past three decades.

After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Maryland, Betty procured an advanced master’s degree in health science from the University of Florida in their neurological track along with a certificate in gerontology. Her postgraduate educational background includes a 10-year specialization in neurological clinical science accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association and neurodevelopmental training certification. 

Betty has practiced physical therapy in various healthcare settings including acute care, outpatient, skilled nursing, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation hospitals, assisted living facilities, and most frequently and recently home health. She served on a community health and wellness committee with Fauquier Health in northern Virginia while working in their homecare division.

In 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Betty took a step back from her occupation to become a full-time caregiver after her 93-year-old mother fell and fractured her hip. This unique and God-filled journey came to a peaceful, natural, and holy end nine months later when Our Lord so lovingly called Betty’s mom home while her family was at her bedside. 

Betty believes the accompaniment of loved ones while in their final months on Earth can be an opportune time for reconciliation, healing, holiness, and dependence upon God’s loving providence.

She wishes to propose to those in her community a belief that during the sacred time of end-of-life care, a tremendous opportunity exists for experiencing sanctifying grace in both the caregiver as well as the care-recipient, in unique and unfathomable ways. This is manifested through participation in Jesus’ loving Divine Mercy and is a journey we are all destined to undertake. One of Betty’s favorite Bible verses these days is John 14:1.
